What is a Podiatrist

Podiatry tends to be focused on foot pain and its causes, bio-mechanics, orthotics, gait analysis, sports medicine and muscular skeletal problems.

However there is considerable cross over when it comes to the impact of systemic illness like diabetes vascular disease and neurological problems.

However all podiatrists can deal with traditional Chiropody problems like corns ,callus, thickend nails,verrucae,bunions and the like.

Podiatrists are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (hcpc) to gain registration, a practitioner will have undertaken a full time degree in one of thirteen schools of Podiatry or have met stringent entrance criteria set out by the hcpc
